UGA's marketing team did amazing job of portraying the game as an event that you just couldn't miss. They did this by honing in and focusing on a few aspects of the fun filled day. Those things included: new Head Coach- Kirby Smart, new quarterback- Jacob Eason, and rapper- Ludacris!
Kirby Smart, former Defensive Coordinator the University of Alabama is now our head coach. Huge deal! Kirby Smart is a former Bulldog and former coach of a championship winning team. Expectations are set extremely high for him and everybody can't wait to see what he does for Georgia Football. The idea of a sneak peak of Kirby Smart's work drove fans crazy this weekend, which contributed to the flood in Sanford Stadium.
Jacob Eason, top recruit is now here at Georgia and he's ready to show off exactly why he was so heavily recruited. We haven't really seen a good quarterback since Aaron Murray and we all know a good football team starts with a good coach and a great quarterback. Fans were also equally eager to finally watch Jacob Eason in action!
I haven't seen a performer in Sanford Stadium on a game day since....well actually I've never seen a performer in Sanford Stadium on a game day! The idea of a performance gave G-Day an added anticipated element that hadn't been present in a while. The speculation all over social media of a performer came about early on in the week, but no one really knew for sure until literally the last minute. Although rapper Ludacris, isn't the hottest artist out right now, I think he was a great choice. He is an Atlanta legend, an avid supporter of Georgia sports, and pretty well-known amongst the diverse game day crowd.
Overall, G-Day/93k Day was one of the best days in Sanford Stadium of my college career. Thank you Georgia Football and Kirby Smart for really taking it there!
